M.A. Sport Management Overview
The online sport management master’s degree from Campbellsville University gives you the chance to turn your passion for sports into a full-time career. The program will teach you the fundamental business dynamics of the sports and entertainment industry, including marketing, finance, facility development, ethics and sports law. In addition, the program’s faculty offer insight on the industry using their real-world experiences.
Choose between two emphases, administration or marketing, to deepen your understanding and work toward your desired career path. Both emphases prepare you for leadership positions within the sports industry, including opportunities in recreational, interscholastic, amateur, collegiate and professional sports.
- Administration: Explores topics such as the current issues and trends in various sports, leadership development, sport psychology, event management and promotions.
- Marketing: Focuses on healthcare marketing, human resource management, marketing strategies for international markets and the communication responsibilities within the marketing function.
The core curriculum of the online master’s in sport management requires you to build foundational business skills in courses such as managerial finance, research methods, and facility development and management. You’ll also examine the history, management theory and ethics related to sport administration, as well as the law as it applies to the sport industry.

Our online sport management master’s degree is made up of 30 credit hours. Students must choose between two emphasis areas: Sports Administration or Sports Marketing. Each consists of 9 credit hours. The two-year program consists of eight-week courses and can be completed in as little as one year.

Admissions Requirements
In order to apply to Campbellsville University’s accredited online sport management master’s degree, prospective students must submit or complete the following:
- Submit an application for admission with the Campbellsville University Graduate Studies program.
- Official College Transcript
- GRE or GMAT. Students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 will not have to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), nor will students who majored in sport management with a 3.0 GPA in sport management courses.
- Collect and submit three (3) letters of recommendation from current or past supervisors, professors and other professionals who can attest to the student’s qualifications. At least one of the recommendation letters must come from an academic area (e.g., academic advisors, major professors), and A letter from an academic area must come from the most recent institutions. **Required to be submitted on letterheads.
- Complete a cover letter including a 1,000 word Statement of Career Goals, reason for applying and future plans with a Sport Management degree. Student must also include a current bio with research experience, description of work, school or life experiences that relate to Sport Management (marketing, sales, sport communication, merchandise, sport leadership, teaching and coaching).
- International applicants whose primary language is not English and who are not a graduate of a college or university in the U.S. or who have not earned at least 6 credit hours at a 3.0 gpa from a college or university in the U.S. must submit a score report of 79-80 (internet-based) on the TOEFL exam; IELTS of 6.0; PTE of 53; TOEIC 600.
- A certified, independent course by course transcript evaluation of educational studies completed at foreign institutions must be sent directly from the evaluation service to the Campbellsville University. Such transcript evaluation companies include e.g. WES, EP, ECE, etc. This requirement may be waived if the applicant has earned a Master’s degree from an American regionally accredited college or university. *must be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions prior to acceptance into the program.
Costs & Financial Aid
The online master’s in sport management degree costs $445 per credit hour. In order to help students afford their education, Campbellsville University’s staff is available to work with students to discover available financial aid options.
Students can fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to find out what scholarships, grants, loans and payment plans are available for them. There are numerous options available, and not all financial aid is based on need.
A maximum of 12 credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university can be transferred into this program.
