While completing the certificate’s coursework, you will examine areas that are fundamental for school counseling, including education law and ethics. In addition, you will learn theories, methods and techniques related to counseling and psychotherapy with children and adolescents.

After graduating, you will be able to pursue a career in as a school counselor to help develop students’ social and academic skills so that they can succeed in school. You will consult with the parents or guardians of students, school staff and the community to ensure there is a conducive environment to help students achieve academic success. Additionally, you may help students discover their career path and point them in the right direction so they can reach their goals.

“This whole program has exceeded my expectations. It is so easy to have communication with anyone you need to from the college. I was also scared of how I would keep up with due dates, but every class has had a detailed due date section and I appreciate that!” – Briannah Isaacs, B.S. Elementary Education
