With Campbellsville’s online journalism certificate, you’ll be prepared to be the first to report breaking news on digital media outlets. Faculty members who have industry experience will teach you the necessary skills for digital reporting.
You’ll explore the fundamentals of broadcasting and digital media through the use of relevant media and technology. You will acquire hands-on experience in researching, writing and reporting news for internet media outlets and broadcast stations. The digital journalism certificate teaches the intricacies of reporting and news writing, with an emphasis on producing stories for publication. You will also become skilled in editing copy written by you and others while focusing on English grammar and the Associated Press Stylebook.
Additionally, you will have the choice between two elective courses: photojournalism or graphic design for mass media. In photojournalism, you’ll discover how to tell a story through pictures. In the graphic design course, you will become experienced in software programs including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress to create designs for newspapers, magazines, websites and advertisements.
After completing the credential-boosting digital journalism certificate, you can transfer all your credits toward the associate in mass communications, allowing you to earn your degree and certification in just two years.
